Patrons,

Thank you for your continued support of Theatre Winter Haven.  I am very excited about next season and wanted to tell you why.

I think we chose a group of plays that come together to make an amazing season.

Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will be an extravaganza.  We have an extra week to build the sets and costumes between the summer show and the start of the season, so we can make this one of the most beautiful shows we have ever done.  In the tradition of MARY POPPINS and SISTER ACT, BEAUTY AND THE BEAST will be a high-energy party that will kick off our season with a bang!

ALMOST, MAINE will melt your heart.  It currently is the most produced play in the United States and universally loved.  It has been performed in over 20 countries, and translated into more than a dozen languages.  It is easy to see why.  It is sweet, it is kind, it is funny, and it guarantees to have you leaving the theatre with a smile.

ONE MAN, TWO GUVNORS is a British farce with a pedigree.  The source material is the 1740’s Italian classic “Servant of Two Masters”.  The critics loved its Broadway run, saying it was “dumb comedy done smart”.  Its star, James Cordin earned a Best Actor Tony and was subsequently given hosting duties of the Late, Late Show because of how funny and popular he was.  Also, it is backed with an original soundtrack and Beatles-like band.  If you don’t like this show, see a doctor.  Something is wrong with you.

MILLION DOLLAR QUARTET is the true story of December 4, 1956 when Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, and Carl Perkins all, by chance, visited Sun Record recording studios and held an impromptu jam session.  Featuring 23 of these artist’s greatest hits and the story of how each of them was discovered by Sam Phillips, the legendary recording impresario.

PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is something I am wildly excited about.  I saw it on Broadway twice and was amazed by the creativity, the humor, and the way the ensemble of actors tells this story.  Based on the book by humorist Dave Barry, PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is the prequel to Peter Pan.  Winner of 5 Tony Awards, this show features a dozen actors playing more than 100 characters, brilliant stagecraft, and side-splitting fun.  It is an honor for Theatre Winter Haven to be presenting this show, as it isn’t even available yet for performances in community theatres.  But, based on our strong reputation and 46 years of success, we were granted an early approval.

I want to encourage you to join us for all five shows by purchasing a full-season subscription.  It is embarrassingly inexpensive at $86 for all 5 shows.  Our entire season costs less than half of a single ticket for any one of these shows when they were on Broadway.  We do great work here and hope you will come play with us.
